Alto Connect for Zoom
Alto Connect is the platform independent creators and small businesses use to run their paid offering: scheduling, memberships, communities, events and payments in one place. This app connects your own Zoom account to Alto Connect. Schedule an event in Alto Connect and the app creates the Zoom meeting on your account and attaches the join link to the event. Change the event and the meeting follows. Cancel it and the meeting is removed.
Before you start
- An Alto Connect account with the Owner role on your organization. The Zoom connection belongs to the organization, so the Owner sets it up once for everyone.
- A Zoom account you can sign into. Any plan works, including Free.
Adding the app
- Sign in to Alto Connect at connect.alto.vision.
- Open Settings from the dashboard, at
connect.alto.vision/dashboard/settings. - Go to the Connections section.
- On the Zoom row, select Connect Zoom.
- Zoom shows its authorization screen, listing what Alto Connect is asking for. Select Allow.
- Zoom returns you to Settings. The Zoom row now shows the email address of the connected Zoom account, and the button reads Disconnect Zoom. That is the confirmation the connection is live.
Troubleshooting

Using the app
Put a Zoom link on an event
Prerequisite: Zoom connected, as above.
- Open Events in the dashboard and create an event, or open one that exists.
- Fill in the title, date and time.
- Select Generate Zoom link.
- Alto Connect creates the meeting on your Zoom account and puts the join link on the event.
- Save. Everyone registered for the event sees the join link on the event page.
Start the meeting as host
Prerequisite: an event with a generated Zoom link.
The organizer gets a host link on the event, which opens Zoom with you as the host. Participants get the ordinary join link, so only you can start and control the meeting.
Change or cancel a session
Prerequisite: an event with a generated Zoom link.
Move the date or time and Alto Connect updates the same Zoom meeting, so the join link everyone already has stays correct. Delete the event and Alto Connect deletes the meeting from your Zoom account.
Attach a cloud recording
Prerequisite: cloud recording enabled on your Zoom plan.
When a cloud recording of an Alto Connect meeting finishes, Zoom notifies Alto Connect and the recording is attached to the event, so the people who registered can watch it back in the same place they joined.
What the app accesses, and why

Alto Connect works only with the meetings it creates for your events. It reads no other meetings, no chat, no contacts, and no recordings from meetings it did not create.
Removing the app
Two routes, and both end in the same place.
From Alto Connect
- Open Settings, then Connections.
- On the Zoom row, select Disconnect Zoom and confirm.
From Zoom
- Sign in at zoom.us and open the Zoom App Marketplace.
- Select Manage, then Added Apps.
- Find Alto Connect and select Remove.
What removal means
- Alto Connect deletes your Zoom access token and refresh token straight away. Removing the app from Zoom sends Alto Connect a deauthorization notification, and the stored credentials are deleted when it arrives.
- New events stop creating meetings on your Zoom account. They fall back to Alto Connect's built-in meeting links until you connect Zoom again.
- Meetings already created stay on your Zoom account and under your control. Join links already sent keep working. To clear them, delete those meetings in Zoom.
- Your Alto Connect events, courses, members and payments are untouched. Only the Zoom connection goes.
